Vireo crassirostris
Near Flamingo
Everglades National Park
Florida
*************************************
I am not positive about this ID but this species had been reported to be observed in the area during
our visit to the Everglades. The bird is also reported as a rare visitor on the Bird Checklist of
the Everglades.
Notice the "broken" yellow spectacles above the eye which Sibley reports is a feature that distinguishes this species from the much more common White-eyed Vireo.
The Tropical Audubon Society also reports that these birds are occasionally seen in south Florida. Sightings have been reported in Key Biscayne in 2010 and matheson Hammock Park in 2011.
