Ospreys of New London

On July 9th 2005 we had the pleasure of banding three osprey chicks in the New London area.
Don Baumgartner volunteer at the Feather did the ropes and banding,my good friend Tammie Schmidt worked the cameras and gave us moral support, Dan Verhagen from We Energies was our climber and did the foot work on the pole.. Without all three of these caring people this would never have taken place. Working with wildlife is never a one person project. It takes, sometimes, untold numbers to make a project work. This was a first for the Feather Rehabilitation center. I got to hold and weigh the young birds.

To read more facts on the ospreys please click on the photos. The facts were taken from the book The Fish Hawk-Osprey by Stephen D. Carpenteri-published by Northword.
