Circulation of the Holy Apostles church (Gruszów)
I was many times with my family, in this church , when i was young, at Sunday`s morning mess.
Only four parishes in Poland carry this rare call: Gruszów, Chelm, Mrzygłód and Brzezie. They were probably about the fourteenth century, which allows us to believe that the roots go back to the Gruszów`s parish the same time. The first mention of the parish from the years 1337 - 1358th have been drawn up by the chronicler Jan Dlugosz are in the famous work "Liber Beneficiorum".
Pastor of the parish at that time was John Tarnovius. The list pence in 1340, are listed in the church dedicated Gruszów Sending of the Holy Apostles, and then the parish had 210 people and belonged to the deanery Szczyrzyc. In the fifteenth century it was knight`s manor, and its owners were: John Bodzanta, John and Nicholas Czarnkowscy Półkozic coat, Stanislaus and Stanislaus Goszwicki Kawecki.
The existing parish church was built at the end of the fifteenth century, and in 1508 he was consecrated.
It is built of larch trees with a length of 18 m, a width of 9 m, height from floor to ceiling of 5 m. It has a log construction. It is timbered, nave, with an elongated and closed polygonal chancel and square tower from the west. Indoor high-shingled roof with przesuwnice - a particularly valuable example of Gothic church architecture.
Gaude, mater Polonia,
prole fecunda nobili.
Summi Regis magnalia
laude frequenta vigili.
Ergo, felix Cracovia,
Sacro dotata corpore
Deum, qui fecit omnia,
Benedic omni tempore.
Sit Trinitati gloria,
Laus, honor, iubilatio:
De Martyris victoria
Sit nobis exsultatio.
Amen
