Yes - the Lumix does offer the sort of image quality that can be translated into decent B+W with some careful processing. The main reason I opted into digital at all was the introduction of the Sigma SD9 - because the images were so much like film images when translated into B+W. I think these look pretty good and you clearly worked your way through various processing options to achieve these results - similar in fact to your film based images I reckon, looking at the tonal range - and when one considers the actual physical size of the sensor in the Lumix - remarkable really. No one would have even dreampt of using a film camera with the image of that size.

Last year I bought a Lumix LX3 to photograph my hand-made baryta analogue prints (which are too big to fit on a scanner) for a catalogue to accompany an exhibition and to provide me with files for my website. I finally got round to trying a few test shots and then processed the raw files through Lightroom (those with LR in the title) and the JPEGs through Photoshop (those with PS in the title. I found it quite a lot of work to get the images anywhere near to the tonal values that I get with film/paper but it was an interesting experiment.
