The Rolls Royce Merlin X engine (one of four on the aircraft which is on display at The Ruskin Museum in Coniston) from the crashed Handley Page V LL5050 that crashed at Great Carrs (near Coniston) on 22nd October 1944 killing all eight members of the Canadian aircrew on board. The propeller boss can be seen at the front of the engine with the remains of the wooden propellers in it. See the next two photos for more information.
