While it is true that the sailing season is drawing near to the end there are 4 special races of interest left on the calendar. The William Lee Campbell Dual Handed race is this Saturday, with a Skipper's Meeting @ the docks starting at 10:00AM.
Next Friday is the Fall Night Navigation Race, starting at 8:00 PM off the North Pier. The next Saturday is the popular Staggered Start Regatta. In this race we compute the handicapping times and apply them to the start of the race, thus the first boat across the finish line wins! If calculated correctly all boats should finish at the same time (but this NEVER happens). Completing a full season of racing is our season ending traditional "Chili Regatta", a very popular race that raises money for our Junior Sailing Program at the Saint Joseph Junior Foundation Summer Sailing School next door to the Club. Each boat owner (and some crew members) make a pot of Chili to share and all the people vote for the best one with dollors. The past several years we have had great wind, good football to watch and raised a lot of money for the kids. Don't let the year pass you by, September has a lot of racing and fun to be had by all.
