Prisoners from Morinj

Osijek, Croatia

These men had been taken prisoner in Montenegro and in the Cavtat area at the very start of the war. They were held in a makeshift camp at Morinj. They had been beaten on the long bus ride, but otherwise seemed to be in good shape. They were very hungry and thirsty. Note the identical twins on the left.

I just read today (August 17, 2008) that Montenegro will be trying individuals accused of murdering and torturing Croat prisoners from Morinj. I wonder if these men in your photo are even still alive or not? You should consider providing any photos related to this to the court/tribunal in Montenegro.

Thank you for your photos, as painful as they are as a reminder of the atrocities that men commit against one another in the name of nationalism and superiority and power.
