Seattle hosted the National Cycling Championships for both road and track in 1977. At this point in history mountain bikes were still found only on the mountain...or at Rancho Rajneesh...and Seattle belonged to Boeing. Starbucks was just a small local cafe and Microsoft awaited the emergence of the personal computer from garage workshops. Talk about opportunities to invest! Anyway, Seattle had a great road course and for once it wasn't raining. Wayne Stetina, in the Cool Gear jersy at the right of this shot, won with a solo breakaway.
