How to keep your bike running right

Hilo, Hawaii

While at the Coors race I watched the team mechanics go over the bikes at the end of the day. Before too long I was helping....but I learned how to do it like a real pro. I heard about a Spanish rider who would take his bike into the shower with him after each stage in the tour. That's not a bad way to do it, as long as your mom or your wife doesn't see it. Showering with your bike strengthens the bond....This bike belongs to Moreno Argentin, the world road champion.

He used car wash soap and water on the whole bike and a paint brush dipped in kerosene on the chain and derailleurs. Nothing after that. There were several Italian riders who liked their entire bike swabbed with kerosene after washing.

Fantastic Picture !.

It would be very interesting if you could tell us more on how (what kind of products etc.) a professional cleaned a bike (also the chain). Did he use some kind of wax after cleaning ?

Best Regards
