Winter funeral

Sarajevo

Shelling funerals in Sarajevo was and probably still is a favorite Serbian thing to do, so you'll never see a funeral shot from me that wasn't shot with a long lens. After ten years it's still hard to believe the seige of Sarajevo really happened. If you knew what kind of place it was before the war, how the people lived and what they believed in, the only conclusion you can draw is that the human animal is nothing to be optimistic about.

You know, Kylee, I definitely have to agree with you when you say these pictures bring a lot of emotion that James posts. The first thing I noticed was how different the tombstones are shaped in this cemetery. It would be a tough funeral to go to if you had a good friend fall there. It just makes you think how much their lives mean to so many people!

The reason I didn't show the great Serbian tragedy of March, 1993 Chedo is because I wasn't there. Had I been there I probably would have been shot dead by a drunk chetnik. The Serbs were the real victims in this war, weren't they Chedo? You were just trying to protect Europe from Muslim fanaticism and the press lied and the CIA lied and pretty soon the Serbs were being bombed by America. Great tragedy not only for Serbia but for all of the human race!

I LOVE your comment under this photo James <3<3<3 !!!! It really shows to what extent you knew Sarajevo before the war and how nobody could fathom it's destiny like this in million years and the wildest and blackest dreams : (( ! It is so hard for me to explain it to my American friends - everybody has that image of "tribals wars" going on for centuries there which is so far, far from the truth ....
