The catcher processor vessel Excellence developed an ammonia leak a couple hours out. They came into Dutch Harbor for repairs and in the process of fixing the leak a major leak developed. Four workers were injured, three had to be medivaced to Anchorage. Fortunately, none of the injuries turned out to be serious. But everyone working in that part of the port had to evacuate. When I was down trying to get a photo close to the vessel I had a run in with a cop who threatened to arrest me. This while a group of volunteer firemen were standing around in regular clothes munching on donuts. I think the officer was overwhelmed by the stress of the situation. Later on he let me make my pictures.
