West Valley's Molly Callahan finished third. She's been consistently near the top all season. And now she's been disqualified in the state championships because she lost her chips during the race....like the judges can't see her cross the line? No matter how automated we get, and I am in favor of automation, common sense is still a necessary commodity. And here I see none! So the chip wizards have given the state championship to the runner who crossed the line in second place, and they've disqualified the third place finisher because her chips came off her shoes. Is this how adults earn respect from young people? Somewhere out there there's a chip expert who needs a good ducking in Goose Lake! And then...take him to Duck Lake! I checked my photos of the start and Callahan clearly has a chip on each shoe. I'm going to get a copy of the rule book and get to the bottom of this. I'm on a crusade!
