The Kotzebue Dog Mushers' Association's first race of the season went off Saturday, Dec. 26 on the ice off Arctic Lighterage. The 11-mile sprint was taken by John Gallahorn. John ran mostly the same team as last year, with a few new dogs. In the photo John Goodwin heads for home at Lockhart Point.
