Survived

The Great War
to die at home,
as he should have.

91st Infantry Division
"Wild West Division"
361st Infantry Ambulance
Companies and Field Hospitals.
Imagine the horrors he witnessed
in the war to end all wars.

I was the caretaker here for many years.
When picking up decorations after Memorial Day
I was amazed this marker always had flowers and a flag.
Someone cared and remembered him!

this tugs at the heartstrings, all the more so tipping over with time...the horrors of war are difficult to imagine for us civilians, yet impressions are there, and the bells soundly struck..

We try to remember, but almost all we will be forgotten. We will wage wars again, and more will die.
