20050718 / Fly Over

Big Sur, CA



It has been too long since I last photographed the ocean. With low lying
fog and patches of vivid light on the bay side, it was a good bet Big Sur
would be big time dramatic and I wasn't disappointed. After taking these
photos, I continued onto Nepenthe, with The Friendly Giant riding
shotgun. It was good to see the ocean again. Yeah, I miss you too. :)

Yes, that second one is really mind bending. I love the way the ocean goes from benevolent aquamarine to malevolent charcoal as it twists away into the unseen infinite.

This looks like the end of the world, Chris, the part were one thinks that you will fall over the edge if you were to make it across that ocean. Great shot and angle.

I love how the curve of the cloud bank.. sort of mirrors the curve of the shoreline there. Great timing with the breaks of the waves right on the sand & the lighting as well. Fantastic execution here Chris.

Chis Bhai...long time! Good to see you back with plenty of images. :) Love both these shots, absolutely breathtaking! I really like the off kilter perspective on the second shot. In that particular image, as I look left to right, I get a sense of a curvature in the horizon which seems to slowly disappear into the fog. Quite intriguing to me.
