20041016 / Soldier

Porch Step / Monterey, CA

"In the end, we're all dead men. Sadly, we cannot choose how, or when.
But what we can choose is how we decide to meet that end,
so we are remembered forever as men."

Any guesses where the quote came from?

I found this fellow on the porch step outside my front door. He was beaten pretty badly but his foe, a few inches away, was dead.

Xllnt potato bug shot; One of God's most interesting & strangest looking critters!
I'll soon have a bug gallery, just need a few more images... One of these guys would do just fine!
Your Other View was very interesting. I respect 'em & love to capture them in my lens, but honestly, I don't want 'em on me! I actually have one {of only a few} memories from my childhood having to do with a "scary bug " & it was one of these guys, LOL.
Great capture ~

ahhh but you didn't know you had met your match at .. er.. um... movie quotes, now did you?

:D

"What we do in life echoes in eternity." .. might have been a bit harder.

Well that didn't take long. :) I was going to use:

"Is Rome worth one good man's life? We believed it once. Make us believe it again. He was a soldier of Rome. Honor him."

...but I thought that was too easy.

Don't know where the poem comes from, but I like it. And the link is really interesting, as well. Now I want a cricket box and a green bean of my own!

Gladiator...
One of my favorite movies.. and not just cuz of Russell's legs..
Because of quotes like that.

Your bug macro.. is fantastic in detail .. but .. now I can feel things crawling on me.

thanks
