Madame Zhang Xunpeng of Shanghai China, one of the most respected masters and pedagogue of Kunqu proclaimed by UNESCO, was invited as King-Chavez-Parks visiting professor to co-teach a course on Kunqu at U-M with prof. J. Lam in spring 2009. On March 14, she gave a lecture "Kunqu, the Classic Opera of Globalized China-My Artist life" at Ann Arbor Library and she is performing Kunqu master piece with Mr. Cai Zengren, a femours male artist from Shanghai at Britton Recital Hall on Apirl 18.

All those are cosponsored by four U-M units including the music school, as well as by Sino-American Culture Exchange Center of permorming Arts.
