1st January - shipwreck

Happy New Year, How's your head? ;-)
actually, if you live on the island, how's your roof tiles? what a night!!

I was up and out early this morning(it was still dark!!)
to try and get a few storm damage pics
but there's not that much damage, a few bits of tree all over the roads
and a wheely bin in a ditch but that's about it
apart from the biggest victim of last nights weather, the shipwreck, half of it is now missing!! :-(

anyone wanting shipwreck pics had better nip over soon
because i dont think it'll be there much longer :-(

do you know if this wreck was called terranova
Guest 04-Jan-2007 19:27
I'm going to miss her. Zak, you have been there through thick and thin for her, she must have known you loved photoing her in all the seasons. Thank you for making the memories visible for we foreigners, we owe you!

What a shame, we can count on you to get the final break up shot anyway!!

Lovely stormy weather.

It had to happen one day. I took some good pics in 2004, it was very photogenic! You always captured it so well Zak! Happy New Year to all on Bute.

Won't be there for much longer by the look of your photo today! A good thing you've taken heaps of shots of the wreck. Has it got a name?

What a shock. It was so familiar. Well, may be you have a new landmark now for a while. Great serie.
Andres Lahowski 01-Jan-2007 23:38
I think they should build a new wreck.
Gail Davison01-Jan-2007 21:39
shiver me timbers! Won't superglue work? Happy new year Zak.
Zak01-Jan-2007 20:03

By the way, have you seen the photographs of a very similar wreck, in exactly the same spot, round about 1909? It's quite spooky, really!

Farewell "Co-Worker". Many a happy hour was spent swinging on your ropes. The Bay won't be the same without you.

So sorry about the "Wreck". You, however, have photos of it for posterity and we enjoyed seeing them the past months.

This is today's top news story!! Good job you've taken all the other pics. I think we all feel sad that it will eventually break up. Happy New Year, Zak!
Sharon Rogers01-Jan-2007 13:40
oh no!
David Clunas01-Jan-2007 13:37
Oh no, looking forward to the low tide shots to asses the damage! Might have to make a quick rush over

What a tragic start to the year. Bute will not be the same now :(
Nicki Thurgar01-Jan-2007 12:34
Oh no, what a shame! Glad you survived the storm - Happy New Year!
Guest 01-Jan-2007 12:31
A happy New Year! Een gelukkig 2007!
joanteno01-Jan-2007 12:02
What a storm with the ship wreck now being disintegrated by the waves.. Happy 2007, Zack
Guest 01-Jan-2007 11:51
It's a real shame the shipwreck pics could soon be wrecked. We had thunder and lightning here in Dundee yesterday but it is only a bit windy with occasional sunshine here now.
Stu01-Jan-2007 11:44
It was only a matter of time before this happened. I don't suppose it will be quite as photogenic now, and that might force the Council's (or the Crown Commission's) hand. Bit of a shame, though, to wake up on New Year's Day just to see the end of an icon :(

Farewell Co-worker; your renown will forever live on.
