Strange registration number on this bike for a bike registered in 1959. In 1959 Bute County Council were on SJ numbers. They moved to ASJ1B in 1964. It was on a black Riley 4/72. Bute C. C. never issued numbers with an A suffix like most of the rest of the country. Someone must have paid good money to get ASJ272 from the DVLA.

Look up Norman Nippy 49 cc moped online for some more info. You sure do get some selection of classics on the island - would have been a lot faster if he had left that heavy bag at home :)
