We have night moths who sleep on our door frame all day with their wings spread open.

How unusual; have never seen one of these. Perhaps it is a night moth.

Pseudoips prasinana, it is a moth ! My apologies for jumping in without checking the great search engine. My excuse is sixty five years is a long way back to remember.

As a wee boy I was told moths fold their wings up while butterflies spread theirs, also not any moths are seen during the day. Whether it is a moth or not I have never heard or seen one like this. Zak you haven't been spraying the Pug have you?.

The Invasion of the Green Moths. Could be a great film. How'd'you tell a moth from a butterfly? Not a bad joke. I genuinely don't know.
