25th March

Neptunes Lady was towed to Bute earlier,

You'd think these Roman Gods would keep their wummen in better nick than that.
A wee makeover would go a long way.

I, like Dougie, have sailed many times on both the Gay Queen and the Maid of Bute. The Gay Queen left from the jetty opposite the Pavillion and the Maid of Bute left from the Mid pier. Ah the memories of those July dayscome flooding back.

Found the advert:

105 feet Iron Restaurant Barge.

Neptunes Lady this restaurant barge needs complete refurbishment inside and out. She started life as a tug and her iron hull is still a good thickness it was sonic surveyed recently and the thinnest section is 8mm. Twin diesel engines. £34,950

Sailed many times on the Gay Queen and the Maid of Bute. Both were lovely boats and were able to get to the less accessable parts of the firth.

Coleen, we had a John Gay in the family born 1606. Back then he was probably called gay as well.

I would like that houseboat to keep on the Mississippi when it is low water. It is a lovely boat.

LOL @ Jenny Faa.
A lick of paint would help.

A touch of the African Queen about her, but she could be lovely. Reminds me of the Gay Queen that used to sail from Rothesay before my (Rothesay) time. Don't think you'd use that name nowadays.
