The Dead Sea Scrolls

The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in the winter of 1946 or 1947 by a Bedouin shepherd , who was looking for his lost goat. In his search, he came across a cave where he found several nearly-complete scrolls hidden in clay jars. The ancient scrolls contained text from the Old Testament, and they were written in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic.
The scrolls had been stored in haste in the caves as the community fled the encroaching Roman army, which was in Judea to put down the Jewish Revolt of AD 66-70.

Thank you very much for sharing this, Zaid. If I have been excited to see the buildings of the past, I find this written page to be thrilling. What an exquisite reminder that we all belong to the family of humankind, in a long unbroken chain.
