We have a couple of these trees, and I grew them from seed myself many years ago.
I made jam from them one year, it was similar to gooseberry with a touch of rose,
and was too fiddly to do a repeat. Each year the tree bears white fluffy florets
followed by these berries. They like a high rainfall, but survive the occasional
drought years alright.
