These leaves are from a very old rose from circa 1596
believed to originate from Italy. Also called
"The Old Velvet Rose" it belongs to the gallica class.
The bloom is small, semi-double and a rich velvety red-purple
with rich gold stamens which make quite a feature.
Here is a shot taken of a couple of young lads walking
along the foreshore at Hallett Cove.
