Tipsy Imperial Concubine

This old rose has a fascinating name.

It's a new arrival in my garden and this is the very first
rosebud - no fault of the rose, the poor thing got burnt by
Dick not measuring the wetting agent when he sprayed
the roses with fungicide back in our spring. I'm
very pleased with its recovery and looking forward
to seeing this bud open.

This reminds me of both sets of grand parents. Both had tremendous garden displays and were always dead-heading roses.... thanks :)

I love the name!

I liked the name so much that I decided to google it and find out more.
One on-line gardening catalogue I came across describes this variety as
a "big bosomy white-creamy rose touched with pink". Whoever wrote that
obviously needs to get out more. ;)

Wonderful rose, Yvonne! Very well captured and composed.

I still say with a name like that she should be red, LOL !! A scarlet woman. Still beautiful though.
