A close-up of the acacia

At home

This is a tree with a short life, lucky if they last 7 years, but what a display
each July! This one is self-sown, the birds love the seed and so do we,
they are often added to bread mixes and add a lovely flavour.

Here in Texas, we have 18 varieties of Acacia. Huisache (Sweet Acacia) Latin Name:
Acacia farnesiana gets the lovely golden balls and fine green leaves. They live a long time, especially in very poor soil. Lovely photo work, Yvonne. V

Our common is the Black Wattle which grows naturally and dies in 7 years, messy and annoying as they simply fall over. Just as well they are pretty for a short season :)
