Coastal Rosemary

We have had these growing for at least a quarter of a century and they are
a picture in flower right now. I'd forgotten about these bushes, but Dick
wanted me to photograph them in bloom, so I braved the long grass growing
around them and took this shot amongst others. The botanical name for
these flowers is "Westringia fruticosa" and they grow on minimal care in
one of our bush gardens which edge a horse paddock.

This species seems to be at home in the seasonal tropics as down your way. My specimen just finished flowering, perhaps because I gave it a good watering - which it may not have needed - to get it through our long dry season, and it has now decided to grow instead of flower. Do the flowers on yours attract butterflies? - mine does from time to time.

Interesting - the blossoms are twice the size of those on my potted rosemary plant. Lovely shot V
