~ 18 ~

The "cubby house" the grandchildren built last weekend, 3 of our grandsons, aged between 9 & 12
plus 2 visiting children aged 3 & 6, it kept them busy the whole afternoon! I took the
photo to send to one to prove that its still standing in the corner of one of our windbreak areas.

We had a cute note from a cousin who moved back to England with her 3 youngsters, aged
between 3 & 6 years, and they'd been making GRASS soup! Just goes to prove that kids
don't really need expensive toys to entertain themselves with.

What fun they must have had building their "cubby house". (No batteries needed!)

Ah, brings back great memories of when I used to do this type of thing. Your grandchildren built quite a robust structure too!

very true Yvonne, kids don't need really much to be playful..
it is the commerce who wants parents to buy all these stuff
a wonderful capture of the "hut" !

Those are the best memories....ones that don't cost anything. They did a good job here. I'm impressed! Reminds me of my childhood! Thanks!

a great pass time for kids, so much better than a TV screen...

Takes me back to when we entertained ourselves...love to know they can still do it. We had a group of young visitors yesterday...they spent time with the sheep & their lambs also birdwatching the new ducklings & their parents:)

They did a great job!!

This is a terrific hut! Don't you just love the creativity of children?

Great to see this. Unfortunately the big aussie backyard in which to make things like this is nearly a thing of the past. I'm sure your grandchildren had a great time making this and will remember it for a long time.

Nice! I remember stuff like this when I was a child. Happy times!

Great combination of imagination and skills to build such a nice shelter. I am sure they are proud of it as they should be.

Yes.. that´s true, but here to build such houses is now prohibided almost everywhere, and kids play rather online games anyway!
Bill Robinson18-Sep-2010 04:27
Not sure about the grass soup Von, but they have definately shown some good survival skills here!
Coleen Perilloux Landry18-Sep-2010 03:59
They did great. Go sit under there and read a book. That's the kind of things children should be doing instead of texting, and IPods and all that stuff.

What a great shelter! I see these occasionally in the woods around here and think some kids must have been at work.
