The sky was full of smoke thanks to the Kaibab Forest Service's apparent need to employ workers on Labor Day weekend. Controlled burns were rampant everywhere to mess with the otherwise spectacular views for all the Labor Day visitors. After being smoked out of our campsite, we managed some nice vistas ... if only intermittantly.
By the way, we took lots of pics of fossils in the Hermit Shale but left them all there for you to enjoy...but you may have to look hard for them.
