This panorama was assembled from photos taken from the top of the Scott Observation Tower in Nebraska's Mahoney State Park near Ashland, Nebraska (see: http://goo.gl/vb6EE )
During some years the Platte River's surface at this location is virtually dry at the end of July, but on this day a gauging station here measured nearly 3000 cubic feet per second.

The left edge of the panorama is generally in the South-Southwest direction from the public observation tower where the photos were taken.
