September 21 (Tuesday): Chang An Grand Theater (長安大劇院)

As the weather was still wet in the morning we had lunch with our daughter at Chamate (一茶一座) @ China World Shopping Arcade. Afterwards we went to Chang An Grand Theater (長安大劇院) near Jiangkuomen (建國門). This is the place to explore the culture of Jingju, or Beijing opera. The theater seats 800, and books in a wide-range of traditional Chinese performance on a regular schedule. The first floor also sells Chinese paintings and folk handicrafts. We also spent a little time at the Henderson Shopping Arcade (恆基購物中心) in the vicinity which unfortunately is only a second or third rate shopping centre. The adjacent COFCO is only slightly better (中糧商場). We then headed home and left for the airport at 16:15.

In summary we totally enjoyed our 15-day stay in Beijing. We had visited most of the tourist spots except, says, the Beihai Park (北海公園), Xiangshan Park (香山公園) etc. Well the leaves are not yet red. And I couldn’t play golf with my classmate due to time constraint. So I got some excuses for returning to Beijing one of these days ;).
