Day 1 (Apr 30) Thanks to a strong tail wind our plane (VS201) arrived 10 minutes earlier than the ETA of 05:25. That’s a sign of good start! The mini cab booked by our daughter took us to her apartment in Pimlico around 06:50. Michelle left for work shortly before 09:00. And after I finished unpacking and checking my emails, I went to the Vodaphone shop @ Victoria Station to get a pay-as-you-go sim card. Then Maggie and I went to Belgo @ Covent Garden for lunch via Bus 24. My D3 + 70-200 attracted attention of some restaurant staff. One even asked for my permission to ‘toy’ with it. After the mussels/Belgian beer meal, we took our usual stroll to the Garden Market. We were just in time to witness the start of the record breaking attempt (I think he did) by Dan Magress and Rob Walters who balance footballs on their heads, shoulders and chest in synchronization non-stop for 24 hours. Since it was Thursday (every Thursday from 12:00 pm April to September), there’s the Covent Garden Real Food Market. What a pleasant surprise! Since we were still full from our meal at Belgo, we didn’t (we should) try anything besides the balsamic vinegar dip (by Maggie). The street artists and musicians were familiar faces, though the weather was better than last year. Before we headed home we went to Loon Fung Supermarket @ China Town to get some beef brisket for dinner.
