Durgiana Temple


The Durgiana Temple Complex was built in the 16th century and closely resembles the nearby
Golden Temple. This is a very peaceful temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga. The temple closes
at 1 in the afternoon so make sure you are there early. Around lunch time, you can catch
performances by the locals depicting in song and dance form the many stories from Hindu
mythology. Take time to walk around the pathway, and enjoy the stillness of the surrounding
pool. It is truly a worth visit when in Amritsar.

This is really a very peaceful religious place in Amritsar. One feels relieved of worries so long he or she is inside the temple. The statues appear to be conveying the message that the true place of worship in Amritsar are the Durgiana Temple and the Harmandir Sahib.
