Date of Journey: 9th October 2005 Travelers: Puneet, Bhavna, Shwetha and Karthik Every Sunday, we would wake up late, laze around and watch some TV. Around 5 or 6 in the evening is when we would even think of moving out. As cozy as that might sound, this Sunday we decided it was time to be a little active and go on a picnic. We left Gurgaon around 7 in the morning, met up with our friends and proceeded on to Sultanpur National Park, about 20 Km from Gurgaon. This National Park is a treat during December and January and lots of migratory birds come here for the winter. The journey took us less than an hour and after paying Rs. 5 for the entrance and a little more for our cameras, we decided to hit the man-made trail. Walking around the lake we spotted many species of birds and thanks to our friends we got their names too. We trekked for 2 hours, stopping often to capture the butterflies and dragonflies. Probably later in the year we would spot more birds. It was a refreshing change from the concrete, dusty village of Gurgaon. The lush woods provided ample shade and with more rains this park will only look lusher. Around 10 we sat down for brunch, consisting of sandwiches, fruit, chips and pepsi and then lounged playing cards and scrabble for a couple of hours. Midway through our calming game we were roused out of the park by the automatic sprinklers that switched on. Wet and too tired to setup our game again we returned back to our cozy TV watching routine at home. A Sunday well spent. More info here... Click here...for Birds of Sultanpur.
