The Parker County courthouse was constructed of limestone in 1885 and designed by Dodson & Dudley in Second Empire style. This magnificent structure was built at a cost of $55,555.55 by J.M. Milliken. When the courthouse began attracting an influx of pigeons in 1945, a pigeon shoot was sponsored by the county government to eliminate the problem. The shootout left the clock tower full of bullet lead, which was subsequently removed 10 years later.
