Snow in Central Texas is a rare event. Snow this late in the season had not fallen in over 70 to 80 years according to the National Weather Service. While it's not anything like snow in other parts of the country or world for us Native Texans it is something we get excited about so it was time to break out the camera and document the last blast of winter for 2007.
I remember this day well. The thing I remember most was how huge the snowflakes were, which is clearly shown in many of your photos. I got stuck at work late in Cameron, and by the time I left work heading for Temple there were already several vehicles that had slid off the road (highway 190/36) and were stuck in the snow. Thanks for the photos. Now people won't think I'm crazy when I tell them it snowed in Central Texas on Easter!
