19 of us visited the British Schools Museum in Hitchin on 20 September and enjoyed a fascinating time learning of how schools were established for children of poor people and how they were taught. Our morning included a half-hour's lesson which had all 19 of us quivering as a very strict teacher led us in we re-learning pounds, shillings and pence, our times tables, how to sit up straight, etc.
