1955 Mercury Montclair Two-Door Hardtop. The new Montclair series replaced the Monterey as the top of the line Mercury series for 1955. Mercury, like many other marques associated with the Big Three,(Ford, GM, and Chrysler), enjoyed record breaking sales resulting from the introduction of totally new designs. However, the Independents like Studebaker,Packard, Hudson, and Nash continued to struggle. 1955 marked the last year of production for the Kaiser and Willys. Kaiser would continue production in South America as the "Carabella".
