1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Sport Coupe. The Advertising for '56 boasted "The Hot One's Even Hotter!!!" The 1955-56-57 Chevrolets are the most popular Chevys of all time and command mega bucks in the Collector Car Market in number 1 or 2 condition. This Aztec Bronze and Polar White example appears to be strictly stock, just like it was sold off Chevy showroom floors in 1956. The BelAir was again Chevy's top series, and a new four door hardtop sedan was added to the series line. The most expensive '56 Chevy was the Nomad Station Wagon, and at $ 2,608, cost $264 more than the BelAir Convertible. The BelAir Sport Coupe in Ken's excellent photograph was a popular choice at $ 2,176, and found 128,382 buyers. Chevy captured 28% of the new car market in 1956, selling around 1.5 million cars.
