1950 Chrysler Royal Station Wagon. Offered in woodie form or all-steel construction, 599 were made in woodie form at a cost of $ 3,163. In 1950, the Town & Country name is mostly associated with a two door pillarless Newport hardtop with wood applique. The '50 Chrysler woodie in Ken's photograph had a 250.6 cubic inch in-line six developing 116 horsepower. The following year brought all-steele construction and all woodies and Town & Country woodies were gone, but Chrysler would continue to use the Town & Country name on all of its station wagons. In 1951 that old in-line six was replaced by a brand new "Firepower" V-8. We know it by a different name today...."Can you say HEMI?".
