Nikon 8700 Sample photos

Sample photos taken with my Nikon Coolpix 8700. The camera is very good for macros and distance shots since the camera is the equivalent of 35 - 280 MM out of the box. IMHO, photography is 80% the photographer and perhaps 10-20% equipment. This camera allows me to do some things I was unable to do with my previous prosumer digicams. Simply showing what the 8700 is capable of. I openly solicit your comments and critiques.

these shots are very nice, would you recommend the camera even with its supposed ergonomic problem? my main concern is macro and from most of the sites i've seen, this camera handles macro shots well. how is the zoom? do you recommend an online site for purchase? thanks, keep up the good work. very interesting pics i enjoyed them.

Enjoyed seeing your pics. I too have a 5000 which was my first digital unit. I now have a Fuji S2 Pro (so I can use my Nikon SLR lenses,etc) and a Canon S400. Of the 3 units the most and I mean most complicated is the 5000. It sounds like Nikon still hasn't got it right with the 8700. I look forward to your Car Show Pics in the future with the new camera. Enjoy!

Eldar Thank you so much for your comments and critique. I very much appreciate this and I invite criticism. How else can we all improve our photography? The noise level is high on the aquarium shots because I have to take the photos hand held in low light so have to take at 200-400 ISO. The camera has a frustrated problem for me. Seems the strap constantly comes in contact with the resolution button. Without my knowledge (because I did not look) the fineness sometimes goes back to "basic". This may be the reason you do not see the detail you would expect. Also all photos are downsized to 800 X 600 (from 32xx X 25xx and saved at quality 6 (out of 12) in photoshop. Ken

I think pics taken by your 8 MP Nikon 8700 are great, thanks for sharing, so people have achance. Very good tonal balance, professional composition, excellent dynamic range and camera does not blow highlights. I noticed few things, though, that, maybe, are not that good; high noise level in sea shots and the resolution in some pics is not as high as you would expect from 8 Mp camera. Don't be upset with critique,- it is just fair opinion, nothing else, I think you posted them to hear a feedback ? Cheers :-)
