This is a remarkable image, Xin -- it promises escape (clouds) but the path is hemmed in with bars and rails, restricting exploration and serendipity. The message: in the long view, escape is always a possibility. But the reality of life is always restraining, reminding, and rebuking us if we stray from a chosen path. It takes courage to vault over the side of that railing and eliminate the predictable and restraining path forever. A very substantive image, beautifully executed in term of its abstraction, incongruities and implied human values.
