Tiraspol

Moldova's second largest city and the self-proclaimed capital of the de facto independent Republic of Transdniester (or Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic). Founded by Russian generalissimo Alexander Suvorov in 1792, Tiraspol has always been more Slavic in nature than Moldavian and to this day retains a distinct Soviet air better than almost any other place in Europe.
