These are some pics I took at the Corpus Christi Greyhound Track, and from the Lorena TGA racing track(mostly a training and testing facility). Right before I arrived, the sun decided to hide behind some clouds, so these pictures aren't as sharp as I had hoped they would be. Keep in mind that these dogs run FAST - 40-45 mph. As a note about the hounds, I am currently working with the track to help make people in the area more aware of Greyhound adoptions.
If you can find it in your heart to donate to Greyhound rescue, it would be much appreciated. Any amount, regardless of how small, always has our gratitude.
Hi Steve - A couple of clubs in Newcastle NSW Australia promoted the new sport of mechanical hare racing by runing some races with trained monkey jockeys. This was in December 1927 and is pictured in advertisements in the Newcastle Herald and fliers. That followed similar deals at the "Epping" track (later known as Harold Park) in downtown Sydney starting in May 1927. The latter was at the initiative of "Judge" Roy Flindell, an American who introduced mchanical hare racing to Australia - but who was a crook in the end and got thrown out etc etc. Cant help you much at the moment with accessible photos.
Cheers, Bruce Teague

Love the gallery.
Do you have more pictures of the monkey jockeys.
I was telling my co-workers and they did not belive that in the 30's some races had monkey jockeys.
If you have them let me know
Thanks
Steve
