That bridge you see on the right is the Mass Ave bridge connecting Cambridge to Boston's Back Bay community. All along the bridge are spray paint marks informing you of its length in "smoots". Supposedly some MIT student nicknamed "smoot" passed out after getting drunk one night and his friends decided to measure the bridge usuing his body length to equal 1 smoot.
