Red-Naped Sapsucker Sphyrapicus Nuchalis

WY, Grand Tetons

With the sun setting and the light becoming darker this feeding parent got spooked by
the camera flash, shortly attacked it and then plugged the hole to the nest of ever
chirping kids so that they couldn't be heard by the potential predator. A few more
shots and then it was time to leave them alone...

Poor momma! I always hate using flash with birds. Great shot though.
