Sticky---Animated How to Make Your Image POP

This is an animated GIF, please set to Original size and wait for it to load.

Even a colorful image from your point 'n shoot camera can be enhanced to increase the "wow" factor.

If using Photoshop, adjust the image using the Shadow/Highlights tool. This is optional, go easy.
Then adjust your image for Levels and Curves in separate adjustment layers. Flatten.
Now, copy the Background layer, then boost Hue/Sat up to +25 (saturation setting only, use the menu tool for this, NOT a Hue/Sat adjustment layer),
then apply the Median filter at 6 pixels, followed by Gaussian Blur at 4 pixels.
Change blend mode on this layer to color, and reduce opacity to 80% or to your liking.

Run Paint With Light action http://www.atncentral.com).
Finish the image by painting light and dark (dodge and burn) where you think it's needed.
See the Next image on how to use the Paint With Light action.

William,

Thanks for the tips. I wish more Photographers would share these ideals! I'm sure everyone with a camera would love to just squeeze the shutter release and have a photo with pop but we know the truth is some days are better then others when light is concerned. I love the photo's I never have to "touch up" but I see no problem with touch up from photoshop to bring out the beauty the eye see's behind the lens !
