July 4, 2011 - Fireworks
Cloudy and rainy off and on today, but cleared this evening. Highs in the upper 70's. This is some of my first attempts at shooting fireworks. It was a lot of fun, and I'll have to try shooting them again. By the end of the display, I was beginning to get the timing down.

July 2, 2011 - Someone is watching you
A warm day today with highs in the 80's and sunny. I was out chasing bees and butterflies this morning when this fellow swooped in above me. I wasn't sure what it was at first, and I couldn't get very close with the short focal length lense I was using. But it was adequate enough to tell that it was an owl - not real common to see at noon. It was screeching at me, so I wondered if it had a nest close by. I will have to watch around there now. Now that I'm retired, I hope to be more regular with my photos here.

Rosedale Road Barn
Haven't got to do much the last few days, more often than not because of all the rain. But it was a glorious day today, sunny and quite warm. In spite of the multiple things I had to do, I managed to make enough time to shoot a couple of barns that I have looked at for years and said, "I should take a picture of that." I'm sure we all have those things in our lives that stick out but we never take the time to look at them through the camera lens. Glad I got the chance today to catch one of them.

May Hay
Another nice sunny day today, and I got to go out and walk in the meadow for awhile. It is going to be a good start to the hay season, since the grass is very tall already and thick. As long as it doesn't rain so much that the farmers cannot get it cut and put up, it will be good for the farmers, the cattle they feed, and the people that feed on the cattle.
I liked the look of black and white with this one.

Tee Ball Profile
Got to go to Madison's Teeball game today. Teeball is, I believe, baseball at its nearly purest. The main goal is to have fun. They don't keep score, and everyone bats and fields. And if there is a really interesting bug or blade of grass around you, you can check it out too. They get so serious at times, striving to do well, that they have to be encouraged to relax and have fun. Good advice to us as well - we all need to relax and have fun in life.

Loretta's Clematis
Starting out another photo a day project to get me back into my photography. It has been a long, rough, eventful year but this one is already better than the last. I had heart surgery, my son had a terrible auto wreck that has him disabled, and had quite a round with my employment this past winter. But I am on track to retire in a little less than 6 weeks, and then the fun will really start. It has rained nearly all week until today, and I got out and shot these after circling the block a couple of times. My memory isn't as good as it used to be...
