Home made strainer.jpg

Strainer Made from 1/2" hardware cloth and 3" PVC fittings, and aluminum screen door media. This will fit inside a 6" section of PVC and the bottom of the strainer will stab onto a 3" pipe going back to the pump. The strainer is 36" of screen which should make it outperform the basket strainers available from the mfg. There is one coupling cut in half that I'm using to reinforce the strainer, in the event the screen gets clogged, there is going to be a lot of crushing force. I'm incorporating separate loss of pressure and an over pressure safety switches into the control circuit on the pump. Which hopefully would shut the pump off before flattening the strainer. Design of the suction strainer drawn from refrigeration shell and core driers, which have a similar design of an inner strainer that goes inside of a desiccant core.
