My son Will and I hiked up the Bear Canyon trail, across The Bowl, and returned on the Tejas trail. It was hot starting up, the trails are rough and steep, I had no altitude acclimation. I suffered on the climb, and can clearly see why it's called a 'Death March' by some who work there. Will does it for fun, and looked like a mountain goat, but I admired most his patience w/ my slow pace.
We saw many birds, but bird photos were hard to come by. We saw this Blue Grosbeak on the trail just starting up.
